WHAT IS PEAKTIME PERKS?

PeakTime Perks rewards you with bill credits for signing up and participating in their cooperatives required number of scheduled events. When demand is at it’s highest your cooperative will make a small adjustment to your thermostat for a short window of time to help lower the strain on the grid – reducing your energy costs and helping your community.
Enrollment is voluntary and open to residential members of participating Michigan cooperatives with an eligible smart thermostat. Your thermostat always remains under your control and you can always opt out of an event.
FAQ
PeakTime Perks is a voluntary demand response program offered by participating Michigan electric cooperatives. It is available to eligible residential and small commercial members of participating cooperatives who enroll a qualifying smart thermostat.
To qualify for PeakTime Perks, you must meet these program requirements:
- Be a named Member on an active account for electric service of a participating electric cooperative
- The active electric service account must be in good standing
- Have an eligible model of smart thermostat that is currently connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network

You will receive a $50 credit from your electric cooperative upon enrollment and a $50 credit annually when you participate in at least 60% events.
Perks are awarded as bill credits by your electric cooperative.

Peak Time Perks will not impact the function of your thermostat. Any issues related to your thermostat should be resolved by contacting the device manufacturer or your preferred HVAC service provider.
An Energy Management Event is a short period of time when your participating smart thermostat may be adjusted by up to 3°F to help reduce electricity demand during times when the electric grid is experiencing higher demand. You can always change your thermostat setting if you need to.
Depending on your thermostat provider, notifications will appear on the thermostat or in your web/mobile application. We may also email you using the email address on your account registration.
Under normal conditions, we anticipate calling up to five Energy Management Events per month, depending on weather, electric demand, and grid conditions. Events may last up to four hours and will typically occur between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time. During a grid emergency, additional events may be called outside of these normal parameters.
Yes. You may opt out of an event at any time by manually adjusting the temperature on your thermostat. However, frequent opt-outs may affect your eligibility for the annual Participation Credit. To receive the credit, you must participate in at least 60% of the minutes in each event and at least 60% of the events during the participation period.
Send an email to support@peaktimeperks.com requesting to end your participation in the program. Once you have been taken off the program, your thermostat(s) will no longer be enrolled and you will not receive the annual participation incentive.
If your new home is located within a participating cooperative territory, you will have the option to re-enroll in the program.
